Come Home Daughter

Daughters leave home too.

Reading Luke 15:11-32 through a female lens reveals a young woman deciding to leave home. She approached daddy wearing the latest hip-hugging leggings, belly out, cropped sweater with hair and makeup on fleek.  Daddy loves his daughter and grants the request for her share of the inheritance.

A year and a half later, the money is gone, sister girl is selling her body for money and eating from trash cans. The visual promises of happiness the world promotes prove to be lies, she now knows for herself. She has her own lived experiences.

She comes to her senses.

On the way home, she is scared, embarrassed, beaten, and humiliated.

Daddy sees her coming and lovingly welcomes her with open arms, with tears streaming down his face.  The older brother is resentful because forgiveness is granted right away. Daddy will deal with that later.

Today, God is saying, Sister – go home.  Family is eager to hear from you, embrace you, and love you back to life.  Just come home.
