The Best Example of Holy Courage
Matthew 26:26-36
Matthew 26 reveals Jesus going to Gethsemane as his last stop before the Divine Assignment. This was the last time he spoke to God before the crucifixion, at the end of his earthly visit.
Christ knew that it was time to do that which He had agreed to do – die for our sins and rise again.
Yet, in Gethsemane, Christ’s first statement to God was, “if possible, take this thing I have to do away from me…”
Maybe we can call this a glimpse of bargaining – Christ’s words reveal that he wished he didn’t have to do this. Maybe Jesus wanted God to consider an alternative assignment, but Jesus knew this part of the journey had to be executed.
He surrendered.
In the next breath, the Bible says, Jesus spoke these words, “Not my will, but your will be done.”
A great example of a willingness to obey, a determination to go forward, and the execution of holy courage.
Prayer:
Dear Lord, please empower us to act on the determination, willingness, and resolve to execute the plans you ordained for our lives.
